Job Title: Sr Business Systems Analyst – Payments

Location: Onsite – Atlanta, GA / Charlotte, NC / Raleigh, NC / Birmingham, AL / Memphis, TN

Employment Type: 9+ Month Contract to Hire

Overview:

Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support a high-priority initiative with our financial services client focused on building a custom payments platform for disbursing funds related to large-scale legal settlements. This is a contract to hire opportunity for a detail-oriented BSA with strong experience in payments technology and regulatory workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to define and document detailed business requirements for a custom-built payment processing platform.
  • Perform gap analysis, process mapping, and impact assessments across payment workflows.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and vendor partners to ensure alignment between business needs and technical implementation.
  • Support the integration of multiple payment rails including ACH, Wire, RTP, and FedNow.
  • Document and manage functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure alignment with compliance and payment verification processes throughout the SDLC.
  • Assist with system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production validation as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Strong experience with payment rail integrations (ACH, Wires, RTP, FedNow).
  • Deep understanding of payment verification processes, risk, and compliance controls.
  • Skilled in process mapping, workflow analysis, and gap identification.
  • Proven ability to elicit and translate business needs into clear, actionable documentation.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and partnering with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with legal banking workflows, settlement processes, or escrow-based disbursements.
  • Background in highly regulated industries or enterprise-scale financial platforms.
