Job Description

Summary:

  • The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of robotic automation systems. 

Essential Functions:

  • Design robotic automation projects within defined time frame and budget allowance by performing the following duties.
  • Evaluate project definition and formulate conceptual design and technical requirements. Analyze projects for technical feasibility regarding engineering, manufacturability, and cost implications. Draw on personal technical expertise to assist personnel in accomplishing project commitments. Experience in designing and sizing complex mechanical components, assemblies, and robots. 
  • Perform mechanical design of robotic cells. This includes detailed design of cell components, as well as overall cell layout. 
  • Assist with preparation of proposals and quotations to represent realistic expectations of the capabilities and the profitability goals of Acieta. 
  • Lead meeting consistent with company procedures for design evaluation, design/drawing releases, project status, and project kick-off. Modify schedules or plans required to maintain required goals within reasonable limits.
  • Adhere to company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for employees.
  • Other duties as may be assigned that are trained for and qualified to do.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Physical Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, applied engineering, or relatable field is required or equivalent education and/or training in engineering required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Profiency in AutoDesk, AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Experience in other 3D and 2D CAD software considered.

  • Preferred Experience:  
  • Must have 5 years of experience in mechanical design in the robotics or automation industry. Experience in designing systems that utilize many different pieces of equipment. Manufacturing or Machine tool load/unload experience; including work holding and fixturing a plus. Participation in engineering societies and organizations, preferred.

  • Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawing, and fabrication specifications.

  • Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Skilled in problem solving and troubleshooting.

  • Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record in order to be cover by Acieta’s automobile insurance. Travel not expected to exceed 25%.
  • Must be at ease working with others of essentially equal or even greater technical expertise and experience of an effective manner.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of custom automation systems
  • Demonstrable experience in working with cross-functional teams and delivering outstanding results
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment – Must include knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word; MRP/ERP systems; CAD platforms
  • Ability to organize and prioritize the workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal direction
