Job Description

Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) is looking for a motivated Global Affairs Associate to join our government affairs team in Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for someone with a background in international affairs, awareness of U.S.-Korea bilateral relations, and a passion for public policy and global business.

The Global Affairs Associate will support our cross-national team on a wide range of legislative, regulatory, and geopolitical issues—working closely with our Seoul headquarters and engaging with U.S. policymakers, associations, and think tanks. This is a great opportunity to be at the intersection of policy, technology, and global strategy—and to play a key role in HMG’s engagement with the U.S. and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze geopolitical developments and U.S. federal legislation and regulations as they relate to foreign policy
  • Draft clear and concise documentation, memos, briefing materials, letters, and reports for senior leadership
  • Support government outreach and relationship-building with key stakeholders, predominately with individuals involved in international affairs
  • Identify and attend DC-based think tank and networking events to obtain insights from geopolitical and economic/trade experts and practitioners
  • Coordinate communications and documentation with HQ in Seoul
  • Monitor and report on global and regional geopolitical trends that may impact our business

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in government, policy, or international affairs
  • (e.g., internship at federal agencies, U.S. Congress, work at an association or think tank)
  • Strong research, writing, documentation, and analytical skills
  • Interest in global geopolitical issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional proficiency in Korean (reading and writing)
  • Expertise in U.S.-Korea bilateral issues
  • Familiarity with the federal interagency and/or U.S.legislative/regulatory processes
  • Experience working in cross-border teams or with international stakeholders
  • Understanding of the automotive/mobility industry
