Job Description



As an Executive Protection Agent at Wellmark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our company’s executives. You will provide close protection and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies during travel, events, and daily activities. This position requires advanced planning and real-time decision-making to safeguard executives in dynamic environments. You will work closely with internal teams and external agencies to assess risks, execute security protocols, and develop contingency plans, all while maintaining the highest standards of discretion and professionalism. 

The ideal candidate is a seasoned security professional with deep expertise in executive protection, risk assessment, and emergency response. To thrive in this role, you will need sound judgment under pressure, exceptional situational awareness, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. Success requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust, relay critical information, and diffuse tense situations effectively. A high level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality is essential. You will bring extensive experience in defensive tactics, security equipment use, and familiarity with emergency medical protocols. Flexibility for irregular hours and extensive travel is critical, along with a proactive mindset to anticipate and neutralize potential threats before they emerge. 

Qualifications



Preferred:

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification.
  • Military or law enforcement background.
  • Experience in corporate security or high-profile executive protection.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree in security management or related field preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in executive protection or a related security/protective services role; or equivalent training or experience (i.e. military or law enforcement training and experience).
  • Demonstrated expertise in close protection, risk assessment, and emergency response.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the use of defensive tactics and security equipment.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate threats, apply sound judgement, and make informed decisions under pressure using logic, risk assessment, and situational analysis.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen attentively, relay critical information, and de-escalate tense situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed. Knowledge of travel protocols, advanced security planning, route analysis, and domestic travel risk procedures
  • Familiarity with emergency medical protocols (e.g. TCCC/TECC), AED operation, and crisis response strategies.
  • Capable of educating executives and staff on personal safety protocols, travel precautions, and emergency response procedures.

Additional Information



a. Implement and execute security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety of executives.

b. Provide protection details for the CEO and other executives, ensuring their safety during travel, events, and daily activities.

c. Conduct advanced security assessments and planning for executive movements and events.

d. Implement travel risk management protocols, including intelligence gathering and route planning.

e. Experience with emergency medical interventions to respond to emergencies during the course of duty. Familiarization with operation of AED and other TCCC or TECC practices.

f. Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness to identify and mitigate potential threats.

g. Coordinate with local law enforcement and security agencies to ensure comprehensive protection.

h. Familiarity with various conveyance travel policies and procedures associated with the use of security equipment as well as the use of available emergency medical equipment. 

i. Develop and execute emergency response plans for various scenarios.

j. Conduct regular security briefings and training for executives on personal safety and security awareness.

k. Utilize defensive tactics and security equipment as needed to protect executives.

l. Maintain detailed records of security incidents and activities.

m. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for executive protection.

n. Other duties, as assigned.

 

Office-based: The nature of the job duties for this position will require you to be in the office 100% of the time. Your presence in-office is critical to effectively perform the responsibilities of the role. Occasional remote work may be permitted based on workload and/or other ad-hoc situations that support it, with manager approval.
