Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Early Childhood (Preschool) Special Education Teacher located in New York, NY. The Preschool Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to children with disabilities, creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate will bring warmth, structure, and creativity to the classroom and have experience working with young children who have developmental delays or disabilities. This role involves collaborating with educators, therapists, and families to implement individualized strategies and create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons tailored to individual and group needs
  • Modify curriculum and classroom activities to support children with diverse learning styles and developmental profiles
  • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Track and document progress toward IEP goals and developmental milestones
  • Work closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure coordinated care and instruction
  • Maintain required documentation in compliance with DOE and program policies
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities
  • Build strong, respectful partnerships with families and colleagues

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Teacher Certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2) — required
  • Experience working with children ages 0–5 in inclusive or special education settings
  • Deep understanding of early childhood development and instructional strategies for children with special needs
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills
  • Passion for inclusive education and early intervention
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
