Job Description

Summary:

The Automation Manager will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of automation systems. The Automation Manager focuses on enhancing production efficiency, integrating advanced automation technologies, and ensuring high-quality output for automotive components. The Automation Manager is a strategic leader with expertise in robotics, hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems in a manufacturing environment.

The Automation Manager will have 5+ years of automation experience

Automation Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years equivalent related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years in automation engineering or related field, with 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Hands-on experience with robotics and automation
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 supplier environments preferred
  • Experience in production atmosphere – management experience strongly desired
  • Effective and competent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to deal with employees, customers, and suppliers
  • Technical certification desired
  • Knowledge of CAD applications and blueprint interpretation required
  • Ability to coordinate and manage any manufacturing activities

Automation Manager Description:

  • Develop and execute automation strategies to boost manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high-quality standards at the New Albany plant
  • Oversee the programming, maintenance, and optimization of robotic systems used in material handling and assembly
  • Oversee automation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and collaboration with engineering, production, and maintenance teams
  • Manage the deployment and calibration of camera-based inspection fixtures for part verification and error proofing, ensuring high accuracy and compliance with quality standards
  • Implement and maintain robotic systems, PLCs, HMIs, and other automation technologies within production lines
  • Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize production processes and minimize waste
  • Manage and mentor a team of automation engineers and technicians, fostering skill development and ensuring performance goals are met
  • Lead automation projects from concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with engineering, quality, and production teams
  • Ensure all automation systems, including robotic and vision-based systems, comply with safety regulations, automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949)
  • Partner with equipment suppliers and contractors to procure, install, and commission automation systems
  • Ensure automation systems adhere to industry standards, OSHA regulations, and the company’s quality and safety protocols
  • Analyze automation system data to monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement
  • Research and recommend emerging automation technologies to keep the plant competitive in the automotive industry
